At my prior place of employment, our main building had a Christmas tree in the lobby. Unlike many trees, and uniquely appropriate for a Japanese company, the tree was decorated with origami models. I learned that they had all been folded by Yuji Shinoda a seniour-level engineer employed by the company. Shinoda-san was incredibly smart, unfailing gracious, and always helpful to a newbie to the industry who was working to develop the company’s web presence. His work impressed me and I was captiviated by lovely paper and designs. Intrigued and impressed I began dabbling in origami.
This interest has evolved over the years. I now make jewelry and ornaments using models both large and small which are for sale at a few seasonal shops in the Adirondacks. I recently created my first design: the common loon. If you are interested in learning more please contact me.
